Originally scheduled for July, the G-Shock x One Piece will only arrive in our market later this month though. Given its status as a limited edition release, it is not going to be easy to get the new watch into your hands. For starters, there will only be 10 pieces of G-Shock x One Piece available for Malaysia. Additionally, all of them will be released through a raffle by Isetan, The Japan Store in Lot 10 Kuala Lumpur on 14 August which means you need to be lucky enough even just to have the rights to purchase the watch....

German publication Heise reports that the country’s government has made a proposal to that effect, alongside extended repair support. Not only must phones get security updates for seven years, spare parts for them must also be easily obtainable and at a reasonable price. The report also mentions an opposing view in the form of DigitalEurope, an industry association that represents brands like Apple, Samsung and Huawei. The association says that security updates should be limited to three years, and software updates at two....

The RTX 4070 Ti that I’ve been handed is custom-cooled and more specifically, it is part of Gigabyte’s Gaming OC series. While inherently made to blow 1440p performance out of the water, NVIDIA also says that the card is more powerful than even, dare I say it, last generation’s RTX 3090 Ti. Excitingly, a Honda City bearing the Gojek logo was recently spotted in Kuala Lumpur by Vocket. In front of the car was another vehicle with a crew that seemed to be filming the Gojek car, along with a police outrider accompanying them. While no announcement has been made by Gojek, this might be a sign that the company is bringing its GoCar e-hailing service to the Malaysian market. There are currently 33 e-hailing companies registered with the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) but as of 7 June, Gojek has not yet appeared on the list....

Prior to this, any search for apps with the words “coronavirus” or “COVID-19” on Google Play will end with no results showing up. The search limitation also extends to similar search terms with the words “tracker” or “map” at the back. Oddly enough, searching for “COVID19” without the hyphen successfully yields search results and, as pointed out by 9to5Google, includes the official app for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)....

According to multiple reports, the discontinuation announcement is fairly new, given that Cardboard VR had been in circulation since it was first unveiled during Google I/O 2015. Google’s objective at the time was to bring VR technology and adoption to the entry-level market, en masse. Google tried to take the Cardboard project to another level, with the Daydream View popping up afterwards, just a couple of years later. However, it is apparent that interest in the project has dwindled considerably over the past few years, which kind of explains the company’s decision to bring down the shutters on the product....

Google’s app in question does pretty much the same thing as the Facebook Research VPN. Even the manner in which is it installed is near identical – the company gets users over the age of 18 to download the app via a special code and its enterprise certificate. In a statement to TechCrunch, Google said: “The Screenwise Meter iOS app should never have operated under Apple’s developer enterprise program – this was a mistake, and we apologize....

As reported before, the Play Pass allows users to access apps and games without any ads or in-app purchases in exchange for a monthly fee. In other words, the subscription service allows users to enjoy their apps and games completely unlocked. There are more than 350 apps and games already part of Play Pass catalogue with new apps and games to be added every month, according to Google’s announcement today....

Google, on a page dedicated to the Android App Bundle, talks about how smaller app downloads can benefit users. However, it has one minor disadvantage: The Android App Bundles format, launched in 2018 at I/O, is only used by Google Play, which could potentially increase the complexity of app redistribution. With the app bundle, Google Play generates and serves optimised APKs that takes into account configurations and languages on a device, thus helping to reduce the app size by making sure only the code and resources that are needed for a specific device are downloaded....

Based on an article and screenshot of the program’s execution on ChromeUnboxed, the Game Mode seems to becomes active, once the Borealis window becomes full-screen. However, a comment by Chromium Gerrit also makes clear that, at current, the Game Mode has yet to be implemented and any attempts to get it running seems to result in an error message is logged instead. As it stands, there still isn’t a lot of solid information about the feature, but speculations suggest that once Game Mode is enabled, it should provide Chrome OS users with access to tools like pointer lock and performance priority on the gaming window....

The new platform, which Google simply refers to as “Wear”, is promised to feature better software performance, efficient battery consumption, and seamless connectivity within the Android ecosystem. Unlike other Google Cloud regions in Southeast Asia which are already up and running, the one in Malaysia is still in its early days and its rollout timeline has yet to be finalized. In fact, Google is currently still searching for a location to establish its Malaysian data centre as confirmed by Ruma Balasubramanian, the Managing Director of Google Cloud Southeast Asia to Lowyat.NET during a media briefing earlier today....

The new security and authentication method is based upon FIDO2 (Fast Identity Online 2) and WebAuthn protocol open standard. The method of authentication has been proven to be far more secure than having to regularly key in a password, can even be used in tandem with two-factor authentication (2FA) key if needed. To be both fair and clear, Android smartphones already have the ability to allow the user to use their fingerprint to authenticate Google Pay purchase, as well as to log in to apps....

As you’d expect, store visitors will be able to browse and buy Google’s products like Pixel phones, Nest smart home devices, Fitbit watches, and Pixelbooks. Customers can also shop using Google’s online store and then collect their orders from the physical store.
