Based in California, Cloud Chamber is helmed by 2K veteren Kelley Gilmore who’ve worked on games such as Civilization and XCOM. Also on board are former Irrational Games members Hoagy de le Plante, Scott Sinclair, and Jonathan Pelling who’ve previously had experience on the previous Bioshock games.
2K Games stated that the new studio has begun development for the new Bioshock title and will be in production for “the next several years” with no exact release date confirmed. Since the game is currently in the early stages of development, it will take some time until the publisher and developer could confirm if we’ll see a return to the underwater city of Rapture, the floating city of Columbia, or expect a totally new setting altogether. According to the press release, Gilmore stated that she and the newly formed studio are “honoured to be part of the 2K family as stewards of [the Bioshock] franchise.” The new installment by Cloud Chamber is speculated to be released on next generation video game consoles such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett, as well as PC.
