Specifically, it reads on the site that reads “any content that violates the laws of the United States of America will be deleted and the poster will be banned”. This would appear to be a very neccesary step, considering the fact that 8chan was associated with at least two mass shootings.

The site administrators has red ceived over 200 board migration requests. They also have most of its former top 25 subforums moved to the new site. The Verge reports that 8chan’s owner Jim Watkins previously said the site went offline voluntarity. He also said that it “may” return when tools to counter illegal content have been developed.
