For the uninitiated, Eli Roth is a director known for his brand of horror comedy and slasher films, such as Hostel and the Thanksgiving portion of the double-feature film, Grindhouse. He’s also appeared on-screen as well, with one of his most notable roles being Donny “The Bear Jew” Donowitz in Quentin Tarantino’s 2009 film, Inglourious Basterds. Interestingly enough, Avi Arad – the CEO and founder of Marvel Studios – and his brother, Ari Arad, are set to produce the show. While Craig Mazin, the writer behind the award-winning HBO miniseries, Chernobyl, will be penning the script for the movie.

At the moment, there isn’t a whole lot of information about the Borderlands movie, not even the plot. Leading us to believe that Roth is playing this movie close to his chest. On a side note, Roth did say that the give had already been the once-about with Randy Pitchford, the CEO of Gearbox Software, who is reportedly happy with it and has given the green light to the film. Rumours of a Borderlands film first came to light back 2015, but according to Engadget, the film was in development hell for a long time, until now. What is certain is that, just like the video games, it’s highly likely that the film will set in a “Mad Max” like world, complete with all the lovable, ludicrous, and absolutely insane characters that we’ve come to know and love. Though, we doubt that there will be a gajillion guns inside the film. (Source: Deadline via Engadget // Image: ComingSoon)
