Aozora Kurumi, AirAsia’s first virtual idol, is described by the company as clad in a Victorian-style outfit and accompanied by a pet cat named Jetson. As a digital avatar, she will be voiced by the human talent chosen through an open audition held in March. Going forward, AirAsia is promising “exciting online content” and live broadcasts from its virtual idol in the gaming and lifestyle categories. Wasting no time, the virtual idol has already begun posting on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

— Aozora Kurumi 青空くるみ 🏺 (@AozoraKurumi) May 3, 2021 According to AirAsia, she’s “fluent in English, Mandarin, Hokkien, Cantonese, Korean as well as some Bahasa Malaysia and Japanese.” And yes, she has quite the backstory – she’s an apprentice of the Greek god Hermes and travels between worlds to deliver messages for the gods. One day, she arrives on Earth, gets enamoured with idols, and (surprise, surprise) decides to become one part-time, at least. In her free time, she apparently enjoys watching humans from her ‘Cloud Palace’ home (obviously located above the clouds) along with her cat whom she calls her ‘son’. Riveting, blockbuster stuff.

You can catch Aozora Kurumi in her first livestream this Saturday at 8pm on YouTube. (Source: AirAsia. Header image: AirAsia / Facebook.)
