Designed as an alternative for traditional desktop machine out there, the Area-51m is being driven by an actual desktop processor with options of up to Intel Core i9-9900HK 8-core processor. At the same time, consumers can choose to have the new “laptop” with up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 graphics.

Not only that, both hardware can be swapped out which give the Area-51m a major upgradability factor. That being said though, things are not exactly straight forward with its GPU though since it uses a custom implementation called Dell Graphics Form Factor which is not an industry standard…for the time being, at least. To help cool down these components which are overclockable, the device relies on Alienware’s own Cryo-Tech v2.0 solution. Complete with a dual-intake, dual-exhaust airflow design, the solution also features high voltage and fire-resistant liquid-crystal polymer driving fans as well as load balancing heat pipes, and copper fin stacks.

Other than that, the desktop replacement machine can also be equipped with up to 64GB DDR4-2400 in four 16GB configurations. It also able to support triple storage two 1TB PCIe M.2 solid state drive in RAID 0 mode and 1TB hybrid hard drive. As for its 17.3-inch display with narrow bezels, customers can choose to have it with up to 144Hz panel with support for NVIDIA G-Sync tech. They can also opt to equip their Area-51m with Tobii eye trackers for those who want to add more spice to their gaming experience.

Being a machine that is designed to deliver an all-out performance, you can’t expect much when it comes to battery life but for those that are wondering, the Area-51m comes with a 90Wh battery. What more importantly though, the laptop comes with two different power adapters with one being a 180W adapter and another one ranges from 180W to 330W depending on the GPU that is equipped into the device. The Area-51m is also the first product to be designed according to the company’s new design philosophy which is called Alienware Legend. It is not known when it will be offered in Malaysia but nevertheless, the massive desktop replacement machine has a general release date of January 29 with a starting price of USD 2549 (around RM 10490).
