As revealed by the included promotional image, the earbuds are suggested to be known as the Galaxy Buds2 – following the naming style that Samsung typically gives to the successors of its modern Galaxy product lines. The device itself is shown to feature a similar form factor to its 2019 predecessor, but now with a sleeker and near-seamless design. It would also sport a single colour finish, therefore ditching the glossy two-tone look of the original – giving it a more cleaner and minimalist look, albeit looking somewhat plain.
91Mobiles believes that the Galaxy Buds2 features significant hardware upgrades over its predecessor, but would still lack active noise cancelling (ANC). Samsung had introduced this feature to last year’s Galaxy Buds Live and 2021’s Buds Pro prior to this, so it is natural to assume that it may include ANC to its next-gen TWS earbuds. However, this seems unlikely as 91Mobiles reports that the side microphones on each side of the Galaxy Buds2 are actually for active noise suppression instead. Needless to say, the lack of ANC will surely disappoint a good number of users – provided that this information is accurate, of course. Other information regarding Buds2’s overall specifications, such as the audio drivers and battery life expectancy are unknown at this time.
Meanwhile, the alleged press renders also revealed that the new earbuds would come with a charging case that closely resembles those included with the Buds Live and Buds Pro – for the exterior design, at least. Another interesting detail is that even though the device suggested to be offered in multiple colour options, the included case would only be offered in a glossy white finish. Flipping the case open, however, will reveal an interior that matches each colourway.
It was not revealed when the Galaxy Buds2 is expected to be released, but its potential unveiling is speculated to happen as early as today. Samsung is slated to hold a Mobile World Congress (MWC) virtual event later on, so there is a chance that the new earbuds would also make an appearance. Else, it is suggested that the Buds2 could instead be introduced later in August, alongside the new smartwatches and foldable phones that was mentioned earlier. (Source: 91Mobiles)
