According to its pre-CES 2019 media presentation, AMD has decided to enter the Chromebook market due to its excellent growth rate which is said to be at 8% per year. For starters, AMD has two processors ready for 2019 Chromebooks as shown below: AMD A6-9220C: 2-cores/2-threads, 2.7/1.8GHz, 1MB L2 & L3 Cache, Radeon R4 3-Cores 720MHz. AMD A4-9120C: 2-cores/2-threads, 2.4/1.6GHz, 1MB L2 & L3 Cache, Radeon R4 3-Cores 600MHz. With TDP rated at 6W, the 28nm chips were said to be able to deliver better performance than the typical Chromebook processors that are being offered by Intel at the moment such as the Pentium N4200 and Celeron N3350. They include up to 23% faster web browsing, 24% faster web apps, 3.2x faster email performance, 74% higher office apps productivity, 42% faster photo editing, and 43% faster gaming. Acer Chromebook 315 and HP Chromebook 14 are among the first batch of AMD-powered Chromebooks to be made available in the market.
