The decision to enable alternative app stores comes in line after Google received numerous feedback from other app developers suggesting the company on how they can actually create a better user experience by allowing additional app stores for download. Of which, Google obviously agreed with the suggestion. In addition to the company adding more app stores in the future, Google has also mentioned that the feature here is currently in its designing phase. That being said, know that you can only have access to more downloadable app stores after the company releases Android 12 on supported devices in the following year.
As for now, Android platforms usually come pre-installed with at least two app stores out of the box, namely the popular Google Play Store and Samsung Galaxy Store. However, there are usually notable limitations in terms of downloadable content if other app stores are used because most developers choose to make their apps only available via Play Store. All in all, Google’s implementation of allowing additional app stores for download will indeed cater more options for all of its users after the release of Android 12 next year.
