According to CNET, the app will allow Android users to get alerts for when unauthorised AirTags are travelling with them. This feature will not only work with the tags, but also other Find My network-enabled devices by Apple.

In addition to the Android app, Apple has also rolled out a new firmware update for its AirTags. One major change that comes with the new update is the time it takes for people to be notified if an unauthorised tag is following them. Before, these stray tags will only make noises to alert you of their presence after three days. With the update, this will happen at a random time between eight and 24 hours. This change comes over a month after the AirTags themselves were announced. CNET also reports that this change comes after privacy advocates expressed concerns that these can be used to stalk people. A valid concern, considering victims are only notified after three days, prior to the new firmware update. (Source: CNET)
