To start, iOS 13 will finally come with Dark Mode, and the ability to type on the keyboard by swiping. Apple calls the latter QuickPath, which is a fancy name for quite the basic feature. Either way, these are good additions to iOS.
Also added with iOS 13 are new photo and video editing tools. There’s a new interface to go with them, letting you make a wide range of edits and preview them immediately. And especially for the latter, you’ll be able to rotate videos directly from your iPhone.
Apple Maps is also getting a rework with iOS 13. The company has rebuilt the map with more detailed landcover, which actually looks kind of good. It also features a new Look Around mode, which is essentially Apple’s take on Google Street View.
Privacy is another issue that Apple decided to address during the iOS 3 presentation. In a typical use case scenario, the company stated that many sites or services will ask you to sign in using an internet account like Facebook or Google. iOS 13 gives you the option to sign in using your Apple ID instead, which you can then authenticate using Face ID or Touch ID. Another way the company is addressing the privacy issue is in its way of dealing with website signups. Many of these will ask for your email as part of the process, but Apple can generate a random email address for your use, and whatever emails you receive from that website can then be forwarded to your real email address. iOS 13 also generates a separate email address for individual websites and services, so you can terminate them individually.
There will be a vast number of other improvements as well. Notes and Reminders will be overhauled, and Siri will have a more natural sounding voice. Messages can now automatically share a user’s photo, or customised Memoji or Animoji. These have also been added a ton of customisation options.
iOS 13 will be available in fall this year, according to Apple. If you’re interested in getting the public beta version though, that version will be available later this month. It’s also important to note that iOS 13 will only be available to iPhones 6s and newer. (Source: Apple)
