To refresh your memory, the feature allows you to earmark a set amount of your balance in the app as savings. You don’t get any interest or anything of the sort from the feature, but it instead helps you compartmentalise your finances and encourages you to develop better saving habits. With the new update, users can now set up multiple Stashes whereas previously, you could only have one at a time. This means that you can divvy up your savings towards up to 10 different goals with customised pictures such as a Stash for buying a car, going on vacation, purchasing specific items, or anything else that you might want to save up for. Initially, you only had the option to make a manual deposit every time you wanted to add money to your Stash, but as promised, BigPay now has scheduled deposits that can be set to recur daily, weekly, or monthly. Stashes can also be locked so that you won’t be tempted to use the money, but it can be easily unlocked with a toggle, so the effectiveness remains to be seen. The round-up tool gets an update with the new booster feature, which allows you to round up to the next RM2, RM5, RM10 every time you make a transaction with your BigPay card, with the balance going straight to Stashes. Round-ups now also work with DuitNow transactions through the app. To promote the feature, BigPay is running a new contest where from 5 September to 2 October, five winners will be chosen every week. The winners will receive double the amount of their Stash. (Source: BigPay press release)
