The company did not go into full detail regarding the Canon EOS R5’s specifications, but confirms that it will feature a newly designed CMOS sensor and new image processor. On top of that, the camera will be equipped with an enhanced in-body image stabilisation (IBIS) system that will also work in tandem with with IS systems on attached RF lenses. Additionally, the new sensor allows for high-speed continuous shooting of up to 20fps via electronic shutter and 12fps by mechanical, as well as 4K and 8K video recording. It will also offer dual media card slots and support automatic transfers from the device to the upcoming image.canon cloud platform.

Along with the announcement of the the EOS R5, Canon also plans to release a total of 9 RF lenses over the course of 2020 in effort to strengthen the EOS R system. The first of these to be revealed is the RF24-105mm f/4-7.1 IS STM zoom lens which features up to 5 stops image stabilisation. Canon has not revealed when the EOS R5 will make its debut.
