Chinese news outlet Sina reports that the country may come up with its own blacklist of sorts. And from the sound of it, it’s something that’s completely retaliatory in nature. Gao Feng, a spokesperson of the country’s commerce ministry, said that entities that will be on the list are essentially the ones that decided to not do business with Chinese companies.
That said, it is unclear what will happen exactly when a company gets put on China’s blacklist. Considering this is a retaliatory move, it may mean that blacklisted companies will not be allowed to operate in China. But if that were the case, it wouldn’t make too big a difference to companies like Google, that are already blocked by the government in the first place. As of now, Google, Intel, Qualcomm and ARM have suspended their business dealings with Huawei. That said, Google has also reinstated the Huawei Mate 20 Pro on the list of Android Q Beta devices.
