Well, while the film did receive mostly decent reviews, it did not perform well at the box office at all, grossing a disappointing $US 229 million worldwide, from a $US 144 million budget. So naturally, we weren’t going to get a sequel to that film. However, seeing as we are living in the era of reboots, remakes and sequels, Sony decided to once again go back to the well, this time opting for what seems to be a safer option.
