Recently, the Google Store received an update for its website navigation. Selecting “Phone” in the app bar opens up a list that reveals the Pixel 3a with a “NEW” label. Further, Google also included a protective case to go along the new device. The URL reveals that the case is made of fabric, similar to the existing case for Pixel 3.
On a related note, the Google Play Developer Console also provided some information on the specifications for both devices. The Developer console recently added “Bonito” and “Sargo”, which are alleged codenames for the Pixel 3a and 3a XL. Both devices will be running on the latest Android 9 Pie along with 4GB RAM. The Bonito is listed with a 1080 x 2160 display at 400 dpi, while Sargo features a slightly larger 1080 x 2220 display with 440 dpi. Unfortunately, the chipset on both phones are still listed as unknown.
As it stands, the search engine has yet to release any official statement about the Pixel 3a series yet. However, given the revelation that has occurred, it’s pretty apparent that Google will be launching its Pixel 3a devices very soon. Alas, while the phones may be launching in the US, it’s still very unlikely that Google Malaysia will even be bringing the phone over to our shores. (Source: 9to5Google [1], [2])
