As written on Google’s page, both the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will still be entitled to unlimited backups to Photos, but only at the “high quality” setting. For the uninitiated, this option automatically compresses any and all images uploaded to Photos, instead of their original sizes. Google’s move is a bit of a surprise, especially since the offer of uploading uncompressed, full-sized images to its cloud, free of charge, has been an important purchasing point for Pixel owners. Specifically, for those who bought the Pixel 2 and Pixel 3.
One reason behind Google’s change of heart can be attributed to Google One. Owners of the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will be given a three-month free trial of the new subscription service. That service offer 100GB of storage and is eligible for family sharing. At the end of the trial, you’ll need to pay RM8.49 per month or RM84.99 per year, should you wish to have continued access to that storage capacity. (Source: The Verge via Google)
