In order to display the hashflag, all users need to do is to include any of these four hashtags including #MalaysiaPrihatin, #MalaysiaMerdeka, #MenangBersama, and #HariMalaysia in their tweets. A special emoji that was adapted from the 2020/2021 Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day logo will then appear next to these hashtags.
Originally revealed back in July 2020, the logo and theme revolved around Malaysia’s fight against COVID-19. The government has decided to retain them for this year’s celebration as the country continues its struggle to overcome the pandemic. Meanwhile, Twitter hashflags don’t last forever though. For this particular creation, it will only appear from 31 August until 16 September 2021 which is apt given the reason behind it. (Source: MCMC.)
