The phone sports a curved 6.67-inch 2400×1080 pixel OLED display with an impressive peak brightness of 800 nits and a 120Hz refresh rate. While it has an under-display fingerprint scanner and includes a tempered glass screen cover, it lacks some standard features such as a water resistance rating or NFC and only features a single bottom-firing speaker instead of dual stereo speakers. The internals of the HONOR X40 includes last year’s mid-range Snapdragon 695 chipset from Qualcomm, with between 6GB to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage, with the ability to convert unused storage into additional virtual RAM. Connectivity-wise, it supports 5G, Bluetooth 5.1, Bluetooth Low Energy, and dual-SIM. As for its photography capabilities, the X40 has a dual-camera setup within a large camera ring on the back, including a 50MP main shooter with an f/1.8 aperture along with a 2MP depth sensor. Up front, a centre-aligned punch hole cutout houses an 8MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture. Powering the HONOR X40 is a large 5,100mAh battery, which is advertised with a battery life of up to 29 hours for calls. It supports 40W wired fast charging and apparently takes about 78 minutes to fully charge, though it lacks wireless charging. The HONOR X40 ships with Magic UI 6.1 based on Android 12 and comes in rainbow, jade green, gold, and black. In China, the base model of the entry-level phone retails for only CNY 1,499 (~RM974), but the company has not revealed the local pricing yet. HONOR says the device will be coming to Malaysia soon but will be renamed for the local market and will also come with better specs. (Sources: HONOR Malaysia press release, HONOR China)
