The new earbuds look quite similar to its predecessor but now come in three different colours and are lighter with shorter stems, which the company claims makes them fit better in your ears. In terms of dust and water resistance, the brand says they carry a rating of IP54. The Freebuds 5i feature three modes for its ANC including Ultra, General, and Cozy that provide up to 42db of noise cancellation. They also offer transparency mode, a low-latency gaming mode, camera shutter button control, and Bluetooth 5.2 with dual-device connection capability which lets you seamlessly switch between two connected devices, supporting Huawei devices, Android, iOS, and Windows. When it comes to the hardware, they are equipped with 10mm dynamic drivers that are inclusive of polymer composite diaphragms while the stems also have touch capability that can be used for media playback, voice assistant activation, and even volume control. As for sound quality, they have multi-EQ effects and support the LDAC codec for hi-res audio streaming. The battery life sees a big upgrade from its predecessor, leaping from a total of 22 hours with the case to 28 hours, though this is with ANC disabled. On a single charge, the Huawei Freebuds 5i can play music for up to seven and a half hours. The brand also claims that a 15-minute top-up can give you an additional four hours of playback. The Huawei Freebuds 5i will be available on the company’s official website, Shopee store, Lazada store, and partner stores for RM399 starting from 2 February. However, Huawei is offering a special promotional price of between RM349 to RM339 through the pre-order program which will last until 15 February.
