According to a report by Bloomberg who cited insider sources, these chipmakers have informed their employees to cut off product supplies to Huawei until further notice. Other major US chipmakers, Broadcom and Xilinx have apparently made a similar move as well.
Even though Huawei has utilized its own HiSilicon processor for many of its self-branded and HONOR products especially those in the company’s flagship lineup, there are still plenty of them that are equipped with Qualcomm chips. As for Intel, it supplies processors for Huawei’s servers and notebooks. Meanwhile, Huawei reportedly has reserved enough supplies for the company to continue its operations for at least three months. With such a major blockade in tow though, together with its overwhelming reach in many aspects of the global telecommunication industry, the company still have to consider their options sooner rather than later.
