Naturally, both devices are larger than the base model. The iPhone 12 Pro comes with a 6.1-inch 2532 x 1170 OLED display, while the Pro Max model comes with a 6.7-inch 2778 x 1284 OLED screen.
These models also have one more camera than the base models. The iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max come with a 12MP triple camera system. This consists of an f/1.6 main camera, an f/2.4 120-degree FoV wide angle camera, and a telephoto camera. That last one differs depending on model, with the Pro being an f/2.0 camera with 2x optical zoom. On the other hand, the Pro Max has an f/2.2 camera 2.5x optical zoom range.
And the iPhone 12 Pro Max takes image stabilisation to the next level. While both models get optical image stabilisation for the main and telephoto cameras, the Pro Max model’s main camera gets what’s called a sensor-shift image stabilisation tech. As the name suggests, this shifts the sensor around rather than the lens. This is tech that you usually find in cameras instead, known there as in-body image stabilisation. Apple is also allowing both models to capture shots in a format called Apple ProRAW. This allows the phones to make use of both their built-in computational photography, while also retaining the depth and flexibility of RAW formats.
On video recording, both devices are capable of recording videos in 10-bit HDR and Dolby Vision HDR. This can be done in 4K and 60fps. And you can even do the editing on the phone itself, thanks to the A14 Bionic chip. It’s the same chip found in the iPad Air 4 announced last month. For prices, the iPhone 12 Pro starts from US$999 (~RM4138). The Pro Max, on the other hand, starts from US$1099 (~RM4552). Storage capacities start from 128GB, with 256GB and 512GB options also available. Apple said that the Pro and Pro Max models will be available starting 23 October and 13 November, respectively.
