From the images obtained by LetsGoDigital, Lenovo’s foldable phone is going to be really tall and narrow – think Sony’s Xperia 1, just maybe even taller. The idea here is that the phone folds vertically, but with the bottom half folding upwards like a reverse clamshell. Then there’s the “Scorpion Tail” hinge itself, which looks a lot like the hinges that you’ll find on Lenovo’s own Yoga laptops earlier in the decade. Due to this unique design, the phone isn’t completely folded flat, and leaves a gap on the inside of the hinge.
It also cannot be folded symmetrically, meaning part of the main display will always be visible. And when folded, you’ll see the second screen that’s behind. It’s a very tiny second screen, and it looks like it amounts to less than 20% of the phone’s surface area. Being a patent, chances are this will not make its way to consumers. But if it does, it will be interesting to see what the use case scenarios are for the incredibly narrow main display and the small second screen. (Source: LetsGoDigital via SlashGear)
