Quite understandably, part of the announcement explains that “current conditions have made it uncertain for us to commit to having a public event”. But it’s odd that the post starts by saying this year’s event will be postponed to 2021. It is an annual event after all, which would mean the outright cancellation of this year’s iteration. Either way, it’s unfortunate to see the event not being able to carry the momentum from Level Up KL 2019. Last year’s event was a pretty big one, in a number of ways. One was the split of the event into its Biz and Play days, the latter of which opens up the event to members of the public. The Biz half was also the one that saw the announcement of the Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios Malaysia. For now, it remains to be seen if there will be a digital equivalent of the event, like a number of other events have opted for.If not, then we will just have to accept that Level Up KL is just not happening this year.
