Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Redzuan Md Yusof said that he has seen the prototype in question. The Edge Markets also reports that he said the company developing it is the number three in the world of drone operations. All that said, he declined to name the company in question, and will only do so after the company itself has done so.
While this is going on, the government is also in the midst of drafting the rules for regulating the operation of flying cars. Redzuan said that the government will have to have the rules ready before other companies come up with flying cars of their own. But the government itself is not spending public funds in developing flying cars. Dubai’s police force is already training officers to ride hoverbikes (shown above), which are about as close to flying vehicles as it can get right now. The upcoming prototype will also be a two-seater, but it remains to be seen if it will be a side-by-side seating setup like a sports car, or one that’s more like the Dubai police force’s hoverbike.
