DidikTV first came into the picture by occupying the 9 AM to 12 PM slot on ntv7 from Monday to Friday starting from 23 November 2020. Since 27 January 2021, DidikTV also covers the 3 PM to 5 PM slot and it began to broadcast on Saturday and Sunday as well.

According to a statement that it has sent to several media outlets yesterday, ntv7 is still owned by Media Prima. Furthermore, the media conglomerate pointed out that DidikTV will actually be run by ntv7’s team itself. Media Prima also stated that the new educational channel is a commercial collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MoE). However, the company has declined to reveal the actual financial figures behind the project although it has confirmed to The Edge that it will bring positive financial impact to Media Prima.

The media giant also seems to be unable to confirm whether DidikTV will be a permanent fixture but admitted that both Media Prima and MoE are aware that it is going to take more than a year for this project to take flight. In other words, the spiritual successor to TV Pendidikan is going to be around for quite some time. (Source: The Edge Markets, Malay Mail, Free Malaysia Today, Ministry of Education [1][2][3].)
