Despite the new policy, premises can still use other applications as an additional contact tracing platform. One prominent example is SELangkah which has been widely adopted throughout Selangor and was even mentioned by Minister Ismail in his announcement today.

However, an exception is given to small towns and rural areas that do not have a good Internet connection. Commercial premises within such areas are still allowed to use written contact tracing method instead of MySejahtera. Nevertheless, the announcement by Minister Ismail today marked the biggest push yet for MySejahtera contact tracing app. Before this, it has been made pre-requisite for those who want to redeem the free RM 50 e-wallet credit through ePENJANA initiative and naturally, the platform was overwhelmed by traffic almost immediately after the start of the program.
