The NDID is not meant to replace existing documents such as MyKad though as it functions more as a digital-friendly trust platform that allows Malaysian to verify their identity in a more convenient manner especially when they are engaging with digital services. The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has recently released a concept video that generally shows NDID in action: In case you are wondering, the NDID is still in its early days. In fact, the comprehensive study of NDID framework has just started in November 2019 and the final report of the study is expected to be ready by 30 June according to MCMC’s Chairman, Al-Ishsal Ishak. From there, the regulatory body will then submit its findings to the cabinet which will then decide the next move. So, lets see how things will turned out in the next few months. (Source: MCMC.)
