In a statement to VentureBeat, a spokesperson to the streaming company said that new users will not be able to pay for their subscriptions via iTunes. This also applies to those who stopped their subscription at some point, but decided to return to the service. Existing users who still have their subscriptions active will still have the option to pay via iTunes.

While the company did not disclose when this came into effect, a support representative shared that this change was incorporated late last month. The reason behind this is likely the same as why Epic Games decided to not put Fortnite on the Google Play Store. Keeping payments out of iTunes will mean that Apple will not be able to take a cut of the subscription fee that Netflix charges its users. In fact, Netflix stopped accepting subscription payment through the Play Store earlier in May. (Source: VentureBeat)
