This tip was provided by reliable industry leaker Nokishita on Twitter, stating that Nikon has allegedly updated its product list in overseas markets to include several new products including the D780 camera. The tweet added that the products will be “announced soon,” while another source, Nikon Rumors, suggests that the official announcement will take place on 7 January 2020 during the first day of CES 2020. Tech Radar reports that the Nikon D780 camera is expected to be equipped with a 24MP back-illuminated sensor for improved low-light performance, an enhanced imaging processor, and is capable of 4k/30p video recording. The camera also reportedly include a 51-point autofocus (AF) system when focusing via the viewfinder, and a 273-point on-sensor phase-detection AF system.
— 軒下デジカメ情報局 (@nokishita_c) December 31, 2019 As for pricing, Nikon Rumors speculates that the camera will cost between US$1999 (~RM8168) and US$2199 (~RM8985). As mentioned earlier, all information on the alleged Nikon D780 are merely rumours for now. Seeing that CES 2020 will be happening this weekend, we’ll eventually see if the rumours of the camera are proven to be accurate or otherwise.
