An internal Nintendo memo has been making its rounds among the company’s customer service people. They have been advised by said memo to guide customers complaining about Joy-Con drift through the usual troubleshooting steps first. When that fails, they are to issue a repair for free, and without warranty confirmation or even proof of purchase.

VICE also notes that the documentation does not make any mention of any faults in the Joy-Con itself. All memo says about the situation is that the company is aware of recent reports. This suggests that it’s an issue that will persist for awhile, despite Nintendo’s apparent generosity. Of course, the Joy-Con drift phenomenon isn’t a new one. It really picked up steam last week following a teardown by a Redditor. And earlier this week, a Switch owner filed a lawsuit against Nintendo for allegedly being aware of the issue but not warning customers about it. (Source: VICE)
