The rumour was first posted by the popular rumour monger, kopite7kimi4virgil (@kopite7kimi). According to kopite7kimi, the alleged RTX 3050 would be based on an even more entry-level variant of NVIDA’s Ampere GPU architecture, the GA107-300. Moreover, the GPU would feature 2304 CUDA cores, and have a TGP of just 90W. For context, NVIDIA’s supposed RTX 3060 Ti is expected to ship out with 4864 CUDA cores, while the RTX 3070 boasts 5888 CUDA core.
— kopite7kimi (@kopite7kimi) November 9, 2020 Sadly, kopite7kimi’s tweet is devoid of details about the RTX 3050’s memory configuration. That said, it has been speculated that the finished product could simply ship out with a 128-bit memory bus and maybe 4GB GDDR6. Of course, we won’t know just how well the card would perform until we test it. Assuming that the card actually does exist. In any case, do take this news with a large grain of salt until confirmation of the RTX 3050’s existence has been received. (Source: kopite7kimi via Twitter, Hot Hardware)
