According to an official release by OPPO, the periscope module features a 7-element lens which is capable of adjusting its focal length from 85mm to 135mm, with aperture starting at f/3.3 and maxes out at f/4.4 at maximum zoom. Onboard the module is a new 16-bit high-precision driver IC that moves two groups of lenses to achieve optical image stabilisation for zooming and autofocus.

Ensuring the highest image quality, the periscope model supports a 32MP resolution sensor with a Quad Bayer filter, and it is also able a length of up to 280mm hybrid zoom via image stacking. The new periscope camera module [image: OPPO]OPPO has not revealed if the technology will be included in an upcoming smartphone from the brand at this time. Given that they had recently announced this, it’s quite likely that we’ll soon see its debut on an upcoming handset in months to come. Perhaps we’ll see an actual successor to the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom, or even a newer Find series down the line sporting this new periscope camera.
