RuralStar Pro is Huawei’s wireless technology that requires no “line-of-sight” for connections, making it suitable for challenging terrains such as deserts, mountainous regions, and rural valleys. According to Huawei, the system has a very low setup cost due to its simplicity, with a node taking less than seven days to be built. Each site also has low-energy consumption that requires less than 120W, no more than five lightbulbs. This means that RuralStar Pro only requires two solar panels to power up the entire system and provide communities with access to calls and the internet....

In its press statement, Hyundai announced that it is acquiring 80% of the robotics company for US$1.1 billion (~RM4.456 billion). The company says this will help its development of service and logistics robots. From there, the company will extend this to humanoid robots for more caregiving roles. The announcement was made by Nick Clegg, vice president of global affairs of Facebook. And it was done on CNN’s State of the Union show. The features are pretty self explanatory. The first one gets teens to take a break if they’re spending too long on Instagram, and the other will push them away if they’re engaged in a particular kind of content for too long. All that being said, Clegg didn’t say when these features will actually make it to Instagram....

The GPU is also a part of the chipmaker’s ARC entry-level tier, aimed at consumers that aren’t looking to break the bank but still want something that can deliver the framerates at a whim....

The slide, courtesy of AnandTech, shows that the Intel is expected to release a new die lithography every two years, starting with the 10nm. Followed by a 7nm manufacturing process in 2021, 5nm in 2023, 3nm in 2025, 2nm in 2027, and 1.4nm process in 2029. For the record, this is the first time any mention of a 1.4nm die lithography has been mentioned; AMD’s own roadmap for its Ryzen CPU hasn’t even reached the 5nm process....

Breaking it down, the new CPUs are the Core i7-1195G7 and Core i5-1155G7. Like all 11th generation CPUs, both U-Series processors are based on the chipmaker’s new 10nm SuperFin die lithography, and even come fitted with its Xe-LP integrated graphics, which has up to 96EU. As for its Cache size, both the Core i7-1195G7 and Core i5-1155G7 have 12MB and 8MB of Intel Smart Memory, respectively. Specs-wise, both the Core i7-1195G7 and Core i5-1155G7 come with a 4-cores, 8-threads layout and have an operating power range between 12W and 28W....

To elaborate further, Intel’s 4th generation Xeon Scalable Sapphire Rapids CPUs will be equipped with a multitude of features, including special-purpose accelerators and security technologies. But while these features are present, not all will be enabled out of the box. Hence, Intel’s On Demand program. To put it in another way, the program can be categorised into two models: a Consumption Model for flexibility and the one that the chipmaker is hoping its customers will choose; and an activation model, where customers simply pay a one-off fee for the feature and accompanying software to be activated....

In total, the NUC X15 has three SKUs. These SKUs can be broken down into a model with a Core i5-11400H and RTX 3060, while the other two laptops are fitted with a Core i7-11800H but can be paired with either an RTX 3060 or RTX 3070. Regardless of SKUs, all variations are fitted with a large 94WHr battery. As for memory, both the Core i5 and Core i7 versions of the NUC X15 can be fitted with up to 64GB DDR4 RAM, but it should be noted that the memory modules in the Core i5 model will only have a maximum frequency of 2933MHz, while the RAM in SKUs with the Core i7 CPU are higher at 3200MHz....

The new rumours come by way of popular TechTuber and rumour monger, Moore’s Law is Dead (MLID), and this time around, the man seems to have shored up a huge amount of salt on ARC from Intel’s rusty plumbing. Supposedly, insiders within the company have “confirmed” that the chipmaker has come to a decision to cease and abandon its efforts in making any further iterations of the GPUs series. According to MLID’s sources, they more or less confirmed that “ARC is finished” and that “the decision has been made” internally....

This is because Intel stated that the Core i9-10900K can reach clock speed of up to 5.3GHz for single core or 4.9GHz on all cores although these clock speeds are achieved through Intel Thermal Velocity Boost technology. That means the processor need to be paired with a good cooler in order to reach these speeds. Carrying 10 cores and 20 processing threads, Intel stated that the Core i9-10900K delivers double digit improvements over its predecessors in many applications....

To start, the display of the iPhone 12 mini is, obviously smaller than the base model. To recap, the base model came with a 6.1-inch 2532 × 1170 screen, the mini instead comes with a 5.4-inch 2340 x 1080 screen instead. In addition to that, the screen itself is connected with two display cables. This is opposed to three on the standard model. The next component to be shrunk is the battery....

Sources told Bloomberg that Ma addressed teachers via livestream during an event that he hosts annually. A video of the event was posted online, and in it, Ma indicated that he would dedicate more of his time to philanthropy. Bloomberg’s sources said the plan could be officially announced before the Chinese New Year holiday next week. This would represent a significant turnaround for Ant Group, which (along with famous sister company Alibaba) had been under intense scrutiny by Chinese authorities since Ma made critical remarks about Chinese regulatory system last year. Chinese regulators famously scuttled Ant Group’s much-anticipated IPO in November. Then they demanded that the company return to its roots as a payment services provider, apparently unhappy that it had branched out into consumer loans and wealth management....
