App developer Kosta Eleftheriou alleges on Twitter that the app known as a Privacy Assistant: StringVPN is a scam app. And he points out a list of things with the app that are telltale signs of a blatant cash grab. And it’s quite the list, from a blank website to a fake email account provided to contact the maker of the app. Eleftheriou also claims that most of its positive reviews are paid for, and there are enough of them that the scam app got pushed to the Recommended by Apple list....

Back in late 2017, Apple confirmed that it was throttling iPhone performance. As a form of compensation for degrading batteries that are causing iPhones to sometimes shut down. To placate it’s unhappy users, the company offered to replace batteries of iPhones affordably, something that even local resellers are doing. The company even allowed iPhone users to turn the throttling off if they so desired. Thanks to that, people knew what exactly was wrong with their iPhones, and on top of that, they had a way to fix it without breaking the bank....

The new iPad unfortunately skipped the new look introduced by the Pro series, which also found its way on to the 2020 iPad Air. Instead, the 8th gen sports 10.2-inch Retina display and a similar design to its predecessors, save for some minor and updated bits. Under its hood is the A12 Bionic chip, which Apple claims to over 40-percent faster CPU performance and graphics capability. Paired with the processor is the company’s Neural Engine for advanced machine learning capabilities such as enhanced photo editing, motion tracking in augmented reality (AR) apps, and Siri performance....

According to Apple, the M1-based 13-inch MacBook Pro offers up to 2.8x faster CPU performance when compared to its predecessor. The 8-core GPU within the chip also provides up to 5x faster graphics performance while the chip is also able to process machine learning-related tasks up to 11x faster with the help of its 16-core Neural Engine. On another hand, the image signal processor within M1 also helped enhance the image output from the MacBook Pro’s FaceTime HD camera....

One such app, a free-to-play game called MotiVoto, may be getting booted because of this. Its developer, Protopop Games, has shared the notice from Apple stating that if the game does not submit an update for review in 30 days, it will be removed. MotiVoto was last updated in 2019, making it over three years since the last update. As The Verge reports, this is not the only app facing the issue....

In an elating twist, Apple’s most recent announcement reveals that the programme is now expanding to MacBooks. For now, it only covers the M1-powered MacBook Air And MacBook Pro, which might irate users of older models, but it’s still a good start. The MacBook Self Service Repair programme offers over a dozen different parts for MacBook repairs including the display, top case with battery, and trackpad, with more options to be made available in the near future....

Out of the RM 20 million budget, RM 5 million will be used specifically to establish an excellence centre for drone sports. This is a rather interesting decision as not only the budget allocated is quite huge but also the fact that the government has officially categorised drone sports as esports through this announcement.
