For those who are unfamiliar with the name, HERE WeGo was the navigation app for Nokia devices earlier in life. Known as smart2go at the time, it would later be sold to a consortium of German automotive companies. Only after that did it come to using its current name. HERE WeGo is pretty feature rich too, offering just about everything you’re familiar with when using more well-known navigation apps. In some aspects, it even outdoes the competition....

It also uses a backlight technology called MINI starry sky that stacks the light source and the driver chip on top of each other. As for the viewing experience, Hisense says that the 85U9E uses an 8K 10-bit ultra-clear panel along with an AI-powered HDR algorithm....

The discovery of Intel’s cryptomining processor was first discovered in a schedule for a live Q&A, set to take place during the 2022 International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC). There still isn’t a whole lot of detail regarding the processor but at the very least, the theme of the Q&A tells us that it is set to be an ultra-low-voltage “Bitcoin Mining ASIC”. On a side note, this discovery also comes after Raja Koduri, the senior vice president and general manager of the Accelerated Computing Systems and Graphics (AXG) Group at Intel, confirmed during a livestream that his company was working on a blockchain solution....

The Intel-Microsoft research team says the process starts with taking an input file and converting its binary form into raw pixel data. This is then converted into a 2D image for image analysis algorithms to analyze. After the conversion process, the resulting image from a malware could have billions of pixels, which the STAMINA research team resizes to a smaller resolution. This is done to speed up the process. The researchers also say resizing the raw image didn’t negatively impact the results....

To recap, AMD announced that its support for the feature is in the form of Smart Access Memory, or SAM for short. While similar to the Resizable BAR feature, SAM is system-specific in that it only works when a Ryzen 5000 series CPU is paired with a Radeon RX 6000 series graphics. Not only do you get the new option to not automatically download updates and install them, you can also make it so that the update installs automatically overnight. AppleInsider reports that in a note to investors, Kuo says that this will be made possible thanks to a modified Qualcomm X60 modem chip. This prediction is based on the company’s work with Globestar, a provider of such a service. And by extension, the analyst also predicts that Apple will be working with Globestar for its satellite comms tech for the iPhone 13. For now, it’s not stated what sort of modifications Apple will be doing to the Qualcomm X60 modem for this to work....

The halt could substantially affect Apple, who have been relying on Foxconn’s manufacturing plant for the production of its iPhones models. Bloomberg reports that Foxconn’s factory in Zhengzhou (known to locals as “iPhone City”) produces virtually half of the world’s iPhones, with the other half credited to Pegatron Corp.’s assembly site near Shanghai. A source told Reuters that concerns of the current coronavirus outbreak could further extend the delay of the factory’s reopening, which will likely disrupt Foxconn from fulfilling its shipments....

The announcement was made by Pat Gelsinger, Intel CEO, during the chipmaker’s Q2 2022 earnings reports.
