Other health and safety features that take advantage of the accelerometer include the fall detection feature, introduced in the Apple Watch Series 4, and the new walking steadiness measurement added to the Health app in iOS 15....

Samsung noted in its Q2 guidance that part of its operating profit of the quarter was a “one-time gain related to its display business”. No exact amount was mentioned there, but Display Supply Chain Consultants’ sources say it’s close to the aforementioned US$950 million mark. The report also states that the payment may have turned the quarter around, from being an operating loss to operating profit. At least for the company’s display business....

To the public eyes, Astro’s decision to discontinue the dedicated channel for eGG Network seemed to take place in a rather sudden manner. The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G comes with a 15.6-inch Full HD display with up to 120Hz refresh rate. Size aside, it looks very similar to other members of the Zephyrus family. The hardware specifications for both notebooks are nearly identical, save for the few obvious differences in key components. Under the ROG Strix branding, ASUS will be releasing both a standard edition variant of the card, as well as an OC Edition of it. But let’s start with what ASUS has retained with the 2nd generation X13. Firstly, the touchscreen display seems to have remained the same, as have its resolution options; you still have a choice between a WUXGA Full HD+ panel with a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz or a 4K+ WQUXGA at 60Hz. The good news is, regardless of choice, they’re still Pantone Validated. Additionally, the display size of the X13 also remains the same at 13....

The durability test starts off well enough, with the glass over the display only scratching at Mohs level six hardness. That’s about the expected kind of performance from the new Gorilla Glass Victus. But things start going south for the ASUS ROG Phone 5 from there. As the process continues to the bend test, we see the antenna line being a weak point that gives way to the bending. For some reason, this causes the vibration motor to malfunction....

Officially known as the Aya Neo Founder, the handheld console sports a 7-inch IPS display, which supports a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1080. At a glance, this portable gaming console looks like a beefier version of the Nintendo Switch. CNBC’s source said that the new chip company would be a Baidu subsidiary. Venture capital firms GGV and IDG Capital are having early stage talks to enter as inventors, but Baidu would likely be the majority shareholder, the source said. CNBC noted that both venture capital outfits have extensive investments in China. The first free game for PS Plus subscribers is Wreckfest: Drive Hard, Die Last for the PS5. But it’s actually a little bit complicated, which makes its inclusion an interesting one. It turns out that Biden has signed a new order to conduct thorough security reviews of software and applications developed by those living under the jurisdiction of a “foreign adversary” such as China and Russia. Basically, this new order aims to set out guidelines for “evidence-based” analysis of these apps in order to determine if their data management practices does indeed pose a security threat to the country....
