According to the statement from PMO, this move was taken as PM Muhyiddin was in a post-Cabinet meeting that attended by an officer that was tested positive for COVID-19. The meeting apparently took place on 20 May at the PMO complex in Putrajaya.

However, the statement from PMO also revealed that PM Muhyiddin has taken the COVID-19 test and the result came back negative. Meanwhile, all attendees of the meeting have since been instructed to take the COVID-19 test and self-quarantine themselves for the next 14 days. The self-quarantine requirement is a standard procedure for COVID-19 cases through the provisions provided by the Prevention and Control of Infection Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342). All in all, this is yet another reminder that our battle against COVID-19 is still far from over. Hence, please continue to practice good personal hygiene and social distancing as well as wear a face mask when you are out of your home.
