According to CEO of TNG, Syahrunizam Samsudin, TNG RFID users will be able to pay for their fuel without the need of any interaction. In other words, users don’t have to take out their mobile phone or even key in details through the point-of-sale system on the petrol pump or at the petrol station’s payment counter.

The company further pointed out that TNG RFID-supported fuelling bays will have overhead scanner that detects users’ RFID tag and subsequently deducts the fuel amount from their TNG eWallet. While TNG and Shell didn’t reveal any specific rollout timeline in their joint announcement, TNG has previously stated that it is aiming to launch fuel payment support for its RFID tag by Q4 2020. Even though the support for fuel payment will only be available at later date, TNG have begun to offer 10,000 free RFID tags at selected Shell stations around Klang Valley. Available until 31 March 2020, you have to be a verified TNG eWallet user and spend a minimum of RM 50 through the e-wallet service at the selected stations in order to be eligible for this promotion. TNG RFID tag has recently completed its 18-month trial phase and is now available for RM 35 each starting from today onwards.
