The company made the announcement on Facebook and Twitter. Despite saying that the event will be postponed though, Sony did not provide a new date for the event. Instead, the company said it doesn’t feel that now is a time for celebration. The company also said this is to allow more important voices to be heard. George Floyd died in custody last week, as a result of a police officer, Derek Chauvin, kneeling on his neck. An onlooker has recorded a video of the arrest, with Floyd saying multiple times in the video that he couldn’t breathe. The arrest was allegedly over counterfeit money. Protests against Floyd’s death has escalated since. While understandable to some degree, it’s still unfortunate that Sony has decided to cancel its planned online event so soon after it was announced. And with no new date for the event, the wait for more details on the upcoming PlayStation 5 is going to be an agonising and long one. (Source: PlayStation / Facebook)
