I mean, Little Peter Parker, still a boy, had to leave his avenging buddies behind just because two film studios could not see eye to eye? OUTRAGEOUS! As the week went by and it began to seem like all hope was lost, the Sun shone on us again. Fans undoubtedly let out a sigh of relief when the two studios struck a new deal. Our precious lil’ Spidey could continue playing with his friends! But what if… there was no make-up for the break-up. What if… the studios actually chose not to work together again? Now, we’re looking at one of the branch realities possibly opened during the Avengers dabbles with “Time Travel”. In an interview with MTV (via Heroic Hollywood), the 23-year-old actor revealed that Sony did indeed have a contingency plan.
The Spider-Man actor also expressed his gratitude in having the deal actually fall back in place. Yes, Tom did actually speak to Bob Iger on the phone and help convince the big boss to allow the wall-crawler stay. Oh, and he did it while he was drunk. Going back to the source material, Sony has a plethora of information and storylines to draw from. As such, it wouldn’t be so surprising that they somehow figured out a way to make things work without Disney. There have been numerous solo narratives that just had Peter doing his own thing and performing his own missions without aid from anyone else. Nonetheless, Sony is still very much webbing out their own Spidey features. Jared Leto’s Morbius is set for release this summer and Tom Hardy’s Venom sequel is filming as we speak. A third Spider-Man film is set to be released in 2021 with production commencing this July.
