The similarities include support for Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Vertrical Surround Engine and S-Force PRO Front Surround audio techs for a virtual surround sound experience. Also present is the DSEE Extreme tech to restore sounds lost to digital compression. Continuing on the list of similarities between the Sony HT-A3000 and the HT-A5000, there’s the Sound Field Optimisation. Like before, this makes use of built-in microphones, as well as the sounds it produces itself, to measure the height and width of a room and calibrating its sound to fit the room. If you make use of additional – and optional – speakers, then the soundbar will also take them into account during the calibration process. The Sony HT-A3000 also has built-in dual subwoofers and three front speakers, giving it 3.1 channels. This is where this new soundbar differs from the preceding HT-A5000, which is a 5.1.2 channel soundbar. In addition to the built-in dual subwoofers and five front-facing speakers, the HT-A5000 also has two upward-firing speakers as well. Though for what it’s worth, this also means that the Sony HT-A3000 will be slightly more affordable, which is reflected in its price of RM2799. That being said, it’s not something that you can buy right away. Sony Malaysia tells us that this soundbar will only be available sometime in December of this year. No specific date was shared. In the meantime, you can head over to the soundbar’s official product page to find out more about it, as well as the optional additional rear speakers and subwoofers that the company recommends you pair with it.
