Sony’s move isn’t exactly a massive surprise, especially when one considers the relationship between the two tech giants. Back in May, Epic Games made the choice to showcase its new Unreal Engine 5 with Sony instead of Microsoft. By releasing Unreal Engine 5 Lumen and Nanite tech demo that was running on the Japanese corporations’ upcoming PlayStation 5 (PS5) console. As we mentioned, Sony’s US$250 million investment into Epic Games isn’t massive and in the grand scale of things, only translate to approximately 1.4% of Epic Games’ total shares. Valuing the Unreal Engine creator’s total shares to be somewhere in the vicinity of US$18 billion (~RM76 billion). (Source: Sony and Epic Games, Hot Hardware, Techspot)
