The first teaser trailer of The Rise of Skywalker only thickened the air of mystery surrounding the film. We see Kylo fixing his helmet and going beast mode against what appears to be members of the Knights of Ren and we also hear the thought-to-be-dead Emperor Palpatine’s wicked laugh. What does all of that mean? Most fans probably have a lot of theories spinning in our heads, but according to General Hux himself Domnhall Gleeson, we’re could see the film go in directions we never expected it to. In an interview with Collider, Gleeson had this to say about JJ Abrams and Chris Terrio’s script:
I hope I feel the same way as Gleeson come December. I want JJ Abrams to be brave, push the envelope and give us Star Wars film that is shocking and unpredictable. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be the final chapter of the Skywalker Saga, a story that has been told across three generations and nine movies. This may not be the last Star Wars film, but just like Avengers: Endgame, it will mark an end of an era. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits cinemas 19 December 2019.
