To be delivered through two new pilot projects, their main objective is to gauge the capability of TNB’s fiber broadband network in terms of durability and efficiency not only in different geographical areas but also varying environment and weather conditions. The report further stated that these new pilot projects were greenlit by the higher management of TNB due to positive feedback from the existing implementation in Jasin, Melaka.
The pilot project in Jasin was first launched by TNB back in early September to help test out the potential technical capabilities and financial viability of the company’s fiber network to support the government’s National Connectivity Plan (NCP). Involving 1100 houses, the pilot project covered three areas within the district and is expected to be completed by the end of this year. While TNB itself didn’t provide any official confirmation to this report, we do hope that the expansion will take place for real. All in all, we also hoped that these NCP test projects could become catalysts to drive more competition in the segment that could subsequently reduce the broadband price and improve the Internet experience in Malaysia.
