For starters, the vivo Y22s sports a notched 6.55-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 720 x 1612 pixels, 20.1:9 aspect ratio, 70% NTSC colour gamut, and up to 90 Hz refresh rate. Also onboard is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, loudspeaker, USB-C port, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The phone is rated IP5X for dust resistance, IPX4 for water resistance, and is available in either Summer Cyan or Starlit Blue colour options. Under its hood is a 4G-enabled Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 – a chipset that is also featured on a fellow Y-series mid-ranger that was released locally in August this year, the vivo Y35. Accompanying it is a memory configuration of up to 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. As you may have expected, this model also comes with a RAM expansion feature which can convert storage space into virtual memory in order to boost performance. The Y22s is equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery capacity, which is pretty standard for most current generation mid-range or even entry-level smartphones. It also has 18 W fast charging support, which is claimed to take around 70 minutes to top up 70% of its battery. Besides that, the new vivo handset features Android 12 out of the box via the brand’s Funtouch 12 platform, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, but no NFC support. In terms of imaging, the vivo Y22s only comes with a dual camera setup on its back, which consists of a 50 MP f/1.8 primary and a 2 MP f/2.4 macro sensor. Housed within the notch on its display, on the other hand, is a 8 MP f/2.0 front-facing camera. vivo Malaysia has yet to confirm the Y22s’ availability and pricing in Malaysia, though it is expected that the brand will reveal the former very soon. For your reference, the smartphone launched in Vietnam for VND 5,990,000 (~RM 1,102) a couple of months back. (Source: vivo [Facebook] [Global website])
