The WHO MyHealth app is built as open source by former Google and Microsoft employees, as well as WHO advisors and ambassadors. The earliest version of the app will provide information similar to what you’ll find from the organisation’s WhatsApp bot.
Future versions of the app looks to offer notifications that are specific to your location. There are also plans to offer self-triage tools to help you determine if you are showing any COVID-19 symptoms. The devs of the app are also considering a contact-tracing feature, using your phone’s location history. But it remains to be seen if this feature will ultimately be included, considering its privacy implications. The devs of the WHO MyHealth app are looking to make the app available on 30 March 2020. But realistically, we’ll likely only see it in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store by 31 March, considering time zone differences.
